YES!!!!
LIFESTYLE MODIFICATIONS ARE NECESSARY AFTER BARIATRIC SURGERIES.

Healthy diet and exercise are necessary to maintain weight loss even after you underwent bariatric surgery.

Individuals whose BMI is ≥ 30 kg/m2, cannot lose weight by lifestyle modifications alone because, their bodies got adopted to a higher weight level. Even if they lose initially, they regain lost weight over a period of time. These individuals need bariatric surgeries for weight loss. Bariatric and metabolic surgeries alter hormones, reset the fat set point to a lower level resulting in long lasting weight loss and long lasting control of diabetes.

Just because you underwent bariatric surgery, that does not mean that you can eat anything you want. When you have tendency to gain weight, unhealthy foods, lack of exercise, irregular food timings, stress and lack of adequate sleep can trigger the hormones controlling body fat and reset the fat set point to a higher level. This tendency will not disappear even after bariatric surgeries. Surgeries can stop weight regain in majority of the people but in some they cannot. Initially after bariatric surgeries, you hate unhealthy foods. But by the end of one year, you may not hate. And if you start taking unhealthy foods again, there is a chance of weight regain in some individuals. Exercise is necessary after surgery to prevent muscle loss.

Bariatric and metabolic surgeries gave you a chance to lose weight and maintain healthy weight. Use that chance properly, change lifestyle and maintain healthy weight and healthy life after bariatric surgeries.
